Halloween Horror Nights 2013

1.) Scare Zones

2.) The Walking Dead Terror Tram

The Walking Dead Terror Tram had to be my favorite part of the night. You board the tram and they take you down to their back lot. You get dropped off right in front of the Bates Motel set and you get to walk right next to it. With "walkers" popping out from behind bushes and trees this maze was truly terrifying. Halfway through the walk there was a Norman Bates photo-op right in front of his house! This was one of the highlights of my night. The only thing I didn't like was how the walkers were running. Come on Universal they don't run they are called walkers for a reason! Overall the Terror Tram was very scary and well put together.

3.) Black Sabbath: 13-3D

The Black Sabbath was definitely one of my favorite mazes. I am actually a fan of Black Sabbath so I really enjoyed hearing the music and seeing their songs come to life. When you walk into the maze Black Sabbath is blaring and everything is bright and colorful. I had a really good scare in a room where an actor was painted the color of the wall so you couldn't see him and when you walked by he jumped at you. This has to be one of the best mazes Universal Studios has ever created.

4.) The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven

This was the first maze that I went through so you can imagine my fear when I went in. Right when I walked in a big, bloody zombie popped out of a dark doorway. After having a walker scare the crap out of me I walked into the gigantic prison set. As a huge Walking Dead fan this maze was incredible! It looked exactly like it does on TV I felt as if I were in the show! The maze even featured the Governor's daughter, Penny. I was really impressed with this maze.

5.) Insidious: Into the Further

The Insidious maze was definitely my least favorite part of the night. The maze itself was very well put together. The set was amazing and looked exactly like in the movie but it wasn't scary. It was very obvious where the actors were going to pop out. I was really looking forward to this maze and it was really disappointing.

6.) Evil Dead: Book of the Dead

The Evil Dead maze was, in my opinion, the scariest one there. The scares were constant and were not obvious. The actors were popping out of dark holes in the wall and the makeup was really nicely done. The special effects in the maze were great. There was a part where the girl's arm was possessed so she was slicing it off, and it looked so real! The whole maze, like the others, looked like it did in the movie. The Evil Dead is one of my favorite horror movies so I was really happy that the maze turned out as good as it did.

7.) El Cucuy: The Boogeyman

The El Cucuy maze, like the Insidious maze, wasn't scary but cool to look at. The story of El Cucuy is really interesting and the maze tells it really clearly. El Cucuy is a creature that lives in the hills and goes down to the villages at night to kidnap children. The story was very well told through the maze and I really enjoyed it.

8.) Universal Monsters Remix: Resurrection

This maze was just like it is all year but with a few twists. They added really loud music and bright flashing lights. They also added a few extra monsters that usually aren't there. The Strangers were in the maze as well as a little Chucky running around. Overall this maze was expected to be just as scary as it is all year, and it was just that.

Overall, I had a lot of fun and I was really impressed with all of the mazes and scare zones. My favorite mazes were Black Sabbath, The Walking Dead and Evil Dead. I think the whole event was very well put together and I had a really good time. I hope to attend again next year.
